In the ever-changing workplace, every manager is hunting for a team that isn’t about fanfare, glory, or saving the day with last-minute heroics. We want consistency, a splash of dedication, and just the right amount of humor to survive the chaos of Monday meetings. This “Manager’s Version” of Something Just Like This isn’t about chasing after the next Steve Jobs or Elon Musk.
It’s about finding the people who show up, do their thing, and help us build something great—without the drama, the capes, or the motivational posters.
I’ve been reading books on leadership,
Where every chapter’s a power trip,
From Steve Jobs’ genius flair,
To Zuckerberg with that thousand-yard stare,
Elon shooting for Mars in his rocket,
While Bezos fills his ever-growing pocket,
And yet, somehow, I don’t see myself on that list.
But they say, “Hey boss, where’d you want to go?
How far you wanna reach with that show?”
And I’m not out here hunting for perfection,
Or someone with a gold-plated LinkedIn connection.
No miracle workers, no superheroes,
Just someone who shows up and gives me zero stress.
I want something just like this!
Doo-doo-doo, can we make it click?
Doo-doo-doo, no drama, no tricks,
Doo-doo-doo, just teamwork that sticks,
Oh, I want something just like this.
I’ve been building teams like a pro,
Each one with their highs and the lows.
From the brainstorms to the all-hands,
To those “Why are we even doing this?” brands.
But every project begins with dreams,
Then comes the budget—let’s tighten those seams!
And hey, I’m not the type of boss that makes you scream.
So, they ask, “Where’d you wanna go?
How much you wanna grow?”
And I’m not looking for someone in their cape,
Or a slick sales pitch I can’t escape.
Just give me someone who can handle the stress,
Someone I can text with, “Are you up for this mess?”
I want something just like this!
Doo-doo-doo, with no risky flips,
Doo-doo-doo, no iceberg tips,
Doo-doo-doo, just teammates with quips,
Oh, I want something just like this.
I’m not asking for a guru,
Or that guy with the “10X” tattoo,
Just someone who’ll take on Monday’s craze,
And still be here for Friday’s praise.
Someone I’ll actually miss,
If they skipped a Zoom call or two in the midst.
“Where’d you want to go?” they ask,
“How much you wanna build, what’s the task?”
I’m just looking for someone with heart,
Someone willing to play their part.
No knight in shining armor, no golden boss bliss,
Just someone who cares enough not to miss.
I want something just like this!
Doo-doo-doo, with work-life mix,
Doo-doo-doo, no ego kicks,
Doo-doo-doo, and results that stick,
Oh, I want something just like this.
I don’t need a miracle, a hero, or a miss,
I just want something real,
Yeah… just like this.
